How To Upgrade To Windows 10 22H2

After Microsoft launched Windows 10 22H2 version, users could easily upgrade from the 20H2, 21H12, or 21H2 versions. Even if you are coming from older releases of Windows 10, it’s still possible to upgrade manually to the lasts version of Windows 10 OS. However, installing the new feature update immediately after it’s released is not advisable, as your computer might have some compatibility issues. However, you can upgrade to the 22H2 version through the Update Assistant, Media creation tool, or windows update page.

  1. Launch the Windows 10 Settings app
  2. Navigate to Update & Security section
  3. Click the Windows Update option
  4. Tap on the Check for Update  button but ensure your Device is connected to the internet
  5. In case your device is Windows 11 compatible and provides this option as well to upgrade to windows 11, click the Stay on Windows 10 for now option to get an update only for Windows 10 22H2 update
  6. Click the “Download and Install now” button under the Feature updates to Windows 10 version 22H2 section. If you can see this option, your Device isn’t yet ready for the 22H2 Update.
  7. Click Restart Now button after the Download and installation is complete

After this process, the Windows 10 22H2 Update will be installed on your computer regularly. It won’t require a reinstallation, and you’ll be able to enjoy these new features of Windows 10 22H2.

Windows 10 22H2 preview install

Suppose you want to try Windows 10 22H2 Update on your computer before it’s available to your PC. You can enroll your computer in Microsoft’s Release Preview Channel under Windows Insider Program. Use the following guides to try Windows 10 22H2 

  1. Launch the Windows 10 Settings app
  2. Navigate to Update & Security section
  3. Scroll down to Windows Insider Program and hit the Get started button
  4. Tap on Link an Account button the sign in with your Microsoft account
  5. Hit the continue button
  6. Choose the Release Preview option from the Pick your Insider settings section
  7. By clicking the confirm button, you agree to the terms and conditions
  8. Restart your Device and once again go through Settings > Update & security > Windows Update
  9. From here, click on the check for updates button
  10. Click the Download and install now button under Feature update to Windows 10 version 22H2
  11. Tap on the restart button to use this Update on your PC

Once the steps listed above are followed, the Windows 10 22H2 version will be installed on your Device. As long as this release is supported, you’ll keep receiving updates. To opt out of Release Preview program to block your PC from receiving builds for the next feature updates. To do this, navigate to the windows insider program settings page and activate the Stop getting preview builds switch.

Update to Windows 10 22H2 Using Media Creation Tool

Other than getting the Update through the windows update page on the settings app, you can upgrade your computer to Windows 10 22H2 using the Media creation tool. On the other hand, this method isn’t recommended if you don’t want to completely reinstall your windows. However, these steps will navigate you through the whole process

  1. Open the Microsoft support page
  2. Navigate to Create Windows 10 Installation Media  and click on Download Now button
  3. After the Download, double-click the MediaCrationTool22H2.exe file to launch it
  4. Tap the Accept button
  5. Now, choose to Upgrade this PC now button
  6. Click Accept button and choose the option to keep files and the app
  7. Tap on the Install  button

After the process, the installation will begin; ensure your Device is connected to a power outlet to avoid disruption during the installation process. After restarting your Device will get the new version of Windows 10.

Update to Windows 10 22H2 using Update Assistant

Other than the Windows update Page and Media creation tool, we can also upgrade to Windows 10 22H2 using Update Assistant. Use the steps below to install the new OS version.

  1. Visit the Microsoft Software support download website.
  2. Click the Update now button to download the Update Assistant
  3. After the Download is complete, double-click Windows10Upgrade9252.exe  to launch it.
  4. Click Update Now button
  5. The tool will confirm if your device software and hardware configurations have no compatibility issues with Windows 10 22H2, after which it will download the updated files
  6. Finally, you’ll have to click the Restart Now button to complete the installation

Using Update Assistant to upgrade to windows 10 22H2 will take less than 60 minutes, and during this process, you should be patient and not do anything that will disrupt the Download and the installation process to avoid encountering installation problems along the way.
